The Lion’s Pride: Networking

Playing the Percentages

You have a 1 in 10,000,000 chance (give or take a couple million) of winning the grand prize in the lottery.

Your chance of randomly picking the four of diamonds from a standard card deck is 1 in 52.

You have a 50/50 chance of a flipped coin landing heads up.

But you can make your networking percentage 100% - here’s how:

Buy all the tickets.  Some people and organizations buy every combination, thus guaranteeing success.  Of course, the cost of every combination must be lower than the payout to be profitable, so they wait until the jackpot is enormous.  Jobseekers can use the same technique by networking with everybody.  But, just as buying every ticket can be expensive, so too is this technique – in time.

Research.  Find the exact person who makes the hiring decision within the exact companies you want to work for, then call them and introduce yourself. Your odds of networking with the right person once you conduct the right research will, by definition, be 100%

Qualify.  Train your network to feed you with leads.  Further, have them tell you why they’re such good leads.  This helps you determine if they qualify for what you’re looking for.  With a list of qualified leads, your percentage will be 100%

IN THE CARAVAN: You can increase your networking success by playing the percentages.
